Microplastics, tiny plastic particles measuring less than 5mm in size, have infiltrated our environment in alarming quantities. They can be found in our oceans, air, and even in the food we consume. These minuscule particles pose a significant health and environmental concern. It can be scary to think about this and so we're here to educate YOU and talk about the top 10 foods with the highest levels of microplastic contamination, so that you can make better choices for you and your family.

  1. Seafood: Mussels, Oysters, Clams and other filter-feeding shellfish tend to accumulate microplastics from their surrounding water, making them a notable source of contamination.
  1. Sea Salt: Microplastics have been found in sea salt harvested from polluted waters, and these particles can end up on our dining tables.
  1. Fish (Various Species): Fish from polluted waters often contain microplastics in their digestive systems. Unfortunately, common species like salmon and trout are not exempt.
  1. Bottled and Canned Beer: Microplastics have been detected in both bottled and canned beer, likely introduced during the packaging process.
